The Human Engine Waits
Sermon Series
Why Preach an Album?
Starting August 17, we will begin a new, three sermon series called The Human Engine Waits. This sermon series gets its title from an album by Andy Melvin, a local artist, producer (Shade Tree Recording studio), and worship pastor at The Austin Stone Community Church. Over the next few weeks we will learn three of Andy's songs by studying and singing them. We will conclude the series by hosting Andy and his band for worship on August 31.
This will be a great opportunity to 1) engage and support local music 2) understand and live in light of the end of the Story of Scripture. As we will observe, redemptive engagement with the Arts anticipates the course of new creation activity, which according to the Bible, will be comprised of humanity living in joyful, worshipful creative community with the triune God and one another, forever in a new heavens and a new earth. This series will also help set the tone for ACL's participation in local music and art. In other words, this church aims to redemptively engage culture, not just through Sunday sermons but also through creative action. Buy the album here.
